As we had predicted, based on the Jet Stream pattern, we did have a radioactive snow storm here is Saint Louis. We captured the entirety of the event on our Live Outdoor & Indoor AIRBORNE Radiation Monitors. (see Images below)
A peculiar aspect of this storm is that the radiation started spiking upwards approximately 6 hours after the storm / snowfall began. Radiation levels remained elevated for roughly 10 hours. The maximum level occurred at roughly at 7:45 am, and was primarily composed of Gamma radiation as the spike was also detected on our indoor monitor.
Based on previous observations, these events tie to radioactive ground water steamed up from the ground in Fukushima and transported via the JetStream to the USA. The primary immediate risk from such events are radioactive Iodines and Xenons, neither of which are readily detectable in swipes taken after the fact. Radioactive Cesium from weather events has made it into the Missouri food chain, as we have documented in the professional radiological beef testing we have had performed on samples of grass fed beef.

ALERT! Tornado Strikes At Radioactive Underground Landfill Fire In Saint Louis
UPDATE 6/1/13
We did a quick survey of the radioactive landfill fire this morning. There was minor tree damage near the entrance to the land fill, our Geiger counter readings indicated approximately 33 CPM downwind of the landfill and 27 CPM upwind. Wind direction was initially out of the East and then out of the Southeast. Our readings once again confirm the airborne radioactivity levels follow the stench from the underground radioactive fire at the landfill.
We also surveyed the Holiday Inn where the "Mass Casualty" event was reported. There were mass tree casualties, but we saw no evidence of building collapse, or significant human injury. Video to follow.

Tsunami, Earthquake and Static Discharge in the UK.: Volcano In the Making?
Tsunami, Earthquake and Static Discharge in the UK, no it is not the comeback album from the Sex Pistols. But, it is a strange series of events in the UK. Mostly its strange because of the reports of large build ups of static electricity during the Tsunami. To make it even more strange, now there has been a follow on 3.9 earthquake in the region.
Reports have blamed the static on changes in air pressure; that's a very dubious explanation given that static IN THE WATER made the fish jump out of the water. The Tsunami was also conjectured to have been caused by an underwater land slide; But underwater landslides don't generate static on that scale. However it is possible for geological-scale static to move water and potentially cause a mini-tsunami. A James Bond level villian might even be able to create such an effect; but given the scale of such an effort, it seems less than economically plausible.
So what gives? Possible rapid magma movement, that certainly would help explain today's 3.9 earthquake. But it might also portend a volcano in the making in the Channel. Lets hope not.

UC Berkeley Nuclear: If Its Not Raining Here, Its Not Raining ANYWHERE?
The UC Berkeley Nuclear Engineering BRAWN team seems to have to gone out of their way to rationalize why the detection of radioactive peaches in California is no reason to investigate further. Its the equivalent of telling fire spotters to ignore smoke in the woods during fire season; the public safety implications are obvious. It is easy to conclude that there is bias coming out of the BRAWM team.
It is a troubling bias because these people are responsible for training the next generation of nuclear engineers who will sign off on the safety of nuclear projects. I continue to hope that it is a bias driven out of ignorance / incompetence rather than a desire to keep their entire undergraduate nuclear engineer enrollment from dropping to zero again like it did after Three Mile Island.
The obvious bias aside, people do look to them for information and data; they count on the Berkeley team because of their perceived reputation. Its a reputation that is taking a hit with those who practice science, but much like "Climate Gate" it takes a while for that knowledge to filter down to the public. In that regard, lets examine the smoke and mirrors used to seemingly justify why there should be no further investigation of the radioactive peaches detected in Santa Monica.
The gist of one claim coming out of UC Berkeley is that a Geiger counter with a pancake tube specifically designed to detect contamination is not capable of rapidly detecting the difference between background radiation and 2 times background radiation. They couch that claim by treating that report as if it came out of an instrument that displayed raw data, instead of the 30 second moving average it actually displays. They also ignore that the reported detections were the MINIMUM SUSTAINED READINGS from two different peaches; and that the local background was also read.
That is enough information to make any person who knows the least little bit about Geiger counters to cringe at UC Berkeley's claims. But it gets worse, any good scientist adept at data analysis and collection would cringe when the BRAWN team suggested that a Poisson uncertainty should be applied to data resulting from a moving average. Combine that with their use of such dubious logic as a rationale to avoid further investigation, and you have what I refer to as DOUBLE STUPID.
But the most damning thing straining the credibility of UC Berkeley Nuclear Engineering department is this diddy, 'If it ain't rainy here it ain't raining anywhere, therefore no further investigation is needed'. The actual quote is "There is absolutely no way that fallout from Fukushima could possibly be detected with a handheld radiation meter here in the US. The quantities have been far, far too small for this to be the case." its a statement that should make ANY SCIENTIST OR MATHEMATICIAN CRINGE. That statement is the fundamental equivalent of claiming that because weathermen in the major cities are not reporting any rain that you can't possibly be having rain at your house. Such logic is obviously cringing to ANY person, scientist or not.
I wonder if the BRAWN team member who posted that is willing to back it up by resigning from the nuclear industry if they are wrong. After all, if a nuclear engineering professional is willing to risk the safety of every Peach Eating American-Californian's Health (P.E.A.C.H) on such flimsy mathematically unsubstantiatable logic he/she should not be involved in educating the next generation of Nuclear Engineers who will sign off on the safety of future nuclear projects.

Yup, me. Right here is this blog
Just a couple of months ago, in April, I proposed that the swine flu might be the first casualty of global cooling. Now, it seems that, at least, "cooler temperatures" are being blamed for this flu pandemic.
If history show us 2009 was the herald year for the 'Gore Minimum', please remember to name something "X".

An unusually cool late spring may be helping keep the infection going in the U.S. Northeast, especially densely populated areas in New York and Massachusetts, the officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

A flu pandemic . . . In April?
I haven't seen anyone blame this April Swine Flu pandemic on global warming yet, so let me be the first to call it for . . . Global Cooling.
Come'on. Flu season in April? The flu season typically runs from October to March (the coldest half of the year) and peaks in January. Recent research has shown virus transmission is greatest when the air is cold and dry.
So when is the air coldest and driest?
Winter.
And when does winter extend into April?
When the planet is cooling.
Maybe I'm skating on thin ice, but it's getting thicker every day.

Quorum of Socialists
Bond. James Bond. Is not what he used to be. Once a suave, sophisticated man of the world, 007 is now a brawler and special effects stooge who wears polo shirts.

Dress code at MI6 must be business casual.
In Quorum of Socialists (sorry, Quantum of Solace) The bad guy (who was he again? Oh yeah, forgettable) is trying to dry out the poor people of the Bolivian desert region. What they did to him, and why exactly it took an international conspiracy to manipulate the indigenous impoverished of South America, is not explained. Evidently though, the only way to get to them was by damming their water supply. I guess Sandinistas and AKs were in short supply that year.
But the real red of the movie came from the lines of the (forgettable) bad guy.
Like this gem, delivered early on by the *baddest* man in the world, on the poorly guarded docks outside a warehouse in Haiti. Yeah, James was sitting just on the other side of the chainlink, watching the whole thing.
Bad guy says
We facilitated change. Obamastyle. Lol, okay, bad guy didn't say what kind of change they facilitated, we're probably to assume it was an overthrow of the Haitian government. But most likely, if they really wanted to hurt the poor people (which seems to be his m.o.) they forced the government to raise the minimum wage to two dollars a day.
In "The Ugly Truth About the Minimum Wage" Jim Cox explains how to put the greatest hurt on the poor.
The venerable Thomas DeLorenzo takes on the T-shirts and running shoes slander. No one says where the polo shirts were made, but everyone knows T-shirts and running shoes are handcrafted by tiny babes in horrible sweatshops where no one has health insurance. Right?
But our bad guy isn't into running shoe factories anymore. In what has to be the most laughable setting ever in a movie, bad guy meets his client in Fuel Cell Hotel.
I'm sure the watermelons loved that concept. It reminded me of the old home in Oklahoma that was built of coal, with straw in the interior of the walls for insulation. I'm sure they could have use it in the Bond film, except... it burned down a few years ago.
So here we have bad guy, in Fuel Cell Hotel, in the middle of the desert. What does bad guy do for a living again? Oh yeah. He collects water.
Or as he put it,
So who is the opposite of a Marxist that buys water rights under a green banner?
Maybe T. Boone Pickens should be suing the Bond franchise.
At the very least, let's he hope he never builds a windmill hotel, and if he does, he keeps his water resources close at hand.

In the mean time, just to prove that people really do build buildings out of coal (and say wonderful things about them, like "1933 -- a year when building a house out of fuel made sense").

Yes, that is exactly what it looks like. A small glass model of the Hindenburg, fill with FUEL from the Hindenburg. Made into an ASHTRAY.
